COENZYME Q10: A REVIEW OF ANALYTICAL METHODS

ABSTRACT

Coenzyme Q10 (also known as ubiquinone, ubidecarenone) is a fat, vitamin like quinone substance that occurs naturally in the body. It is one of the most significant lipid antioxidants, which is most commonly used for the conditions that affect heart such as congestive heart failure, angina pectoris, and in high blood pressure. It is also used in preventing migraine, headache, Parkinson disease and many other conditions. There are different Coenzyme Q10 analysis techniques, including spectrometry, chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, and others. They have been developed in most biological matrices to describe and quantify this active ingredient. The aim of this paper is to review the available information on analytical methods to coenzyme Q10, as well as describing the limitations and advantage of each technique.
