ABSTRACT
Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is an important indicator of overall health status and is increasingly used to measure health inequalities among different social groups. There is evidence that children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) have lower HRQoL than their healthy peers. Low socioeconomic status and lower maternal education are associated with poor metabolic control in children. The participation of mothers in the treatment of diabetes their children is the most important determinant for good and poor glycemic control. It is important to emphasize the positive impact of the use of modern technology on the QoL of children with T1DM, or on the QoL of their families. Understanding quality of life is of prognostic importance for improving symptom alleviation, health care, and patient rehabilitation.
Keywords: Quality of life, type 1 diabetes mellitus.
