Abstract
AN OUTLOOK OF BHAGANDAR IN THE CONTEXT OF AYURVEDA WITH CORRELATION IN MODERN SCIENCE

ABSTRACT

The term Bhagandhar is a illness that causes Daran (cutting) of Bhag (vulva), Guda (anus), and Bastipradesh (perianal region) at first, it is existing as Pidika in Apakwa or un-suppurated illness and when it becomes Pakwa or suppurated, it is called as Bhagandar. Fistula in ano is one of the communal and notorious diseases amongst all anorectal disorder. It is periodic flora of the disease which makes it more and more difficult for treatment. It produces embarrassments in routine life. Bhagandar available in various Ayurvedic texts such as Sushrut Samhita, Charadatta, Charak samhita, Vagbhat, Bhaishajya ratnavali, Ras tarangini etc. and also incorporated available common modern surgical description.
