ABSTRACT
Today’s fast and developing age blessed us with many improved life aids. But along with this, today’s lifestyle has given us many ailments one amongst it is anorectal disorder which is progressively increasing in society. About 50% of population of the world, above 50 years aged people are suffering from Haemorrhoids. Haemorrhoids or Gudarsha has been one of the commonest diseases to affect all economical groups of population. Arsha (Haemorrhoids) is engorgement of the Haemorrhoidal venous plexus, characterized by bleeding per rectum, constipation, pain in ano, prolapse per anum. Main causes of Haemorrhoids are sedentary lifestyle, consuming daily fast food and taking improper diet, alcohol, suppression of urges, faulty habits of defecation, constipation, pregnancy mental stress, excessive straining, etc. According to Ayurveda Arsha occurs mainly due to vitiation of Agni (Agnimandya), which leads to Malavasthambha (constipation) and Vimarga gamana of Apan Vayu. Ayurveda treatment has the capacity to streamline the vitiated Agni and regulate the Anulomgati of Apan Vayu, therefore Ayurvedic treatment can be used for treating the Arsha. Patients prefer to take medicine instead of surgery. Hence this article is representing a single case study of Abhyantar Arsha, in which Pathyadhi Modaka was administered for 14 days in the dosage of 6 gm twice a day in Pragbhukta (Before meals) with Ushnajala. Patient was followed once in a week for 28 days. Treatment has shown good result and prevent the expensive, time-consuming, painful management of Arsha (Haemorrhoids).
