ABSTRACT
In order to evaluate the patient with ascites the establishment of the cause turns out to be the first milestone for the case. Ascites is usually occurs because of Prana, Agni and Apana Dushti which can be correlated to the Cardiac, Hepatic and Renal origin respectively. Ascites is widely responsible for causing disability pertaining to mental and physical wellbeing of individual presenting with the Lakshanas like Annaakansha (anorexia), Dourbalya (weakness), Swasa (respiratory distress), Udara Utasedha (abdominal distention), Nanavarnarajisiras (engorgement of veins over abdomen). Jalodara is one among the type of Udara Rogas in which the vitiated Dosha gets accumulated in Udara between Twaka (skin) and Mamsa (muscular tissues) leading to Shotha (swelling). Panchakarma gives the concept of Nitya Virechana to correct the Prana, Agni and Apana Dusthi which stands as a unique way by inducing Vatanulomana with the use of Teekshna Ksharadi Aushadhis like Go-Mutra along with Haritaki which also imparts Vatanulomana and Deepana Pachana to further support the Samprapti Veghatana of the condition. The present study on 5 subjects is done to evaluate the effect of Go-Mutra Haritaki in the management of Jalodara. The results of the present study were encouraging enough to consider the significance of Go-Mutra Haritaki in the management of Jalodara and the present study emphasis the relevance and significance of Nitya Virechana concept in order to impart the relief in the clinical condition of the subjects.
