ABSTRACT
The present study is an attempt to prepare and evaluate nanoparticles of Ezetimibe by using Eudragit S 100 and Chitosan as polymers for treating Antihyperlipidemia. The five different formulations FS1-FS5 and F1-F5 were prepared by the solvent evaporation method and Ionic gelation method respectively. Changing the polymer concentration ratio will significantly affect the in vitro drug release. The formulated Nanoparticles were evaluated for solubility, percentage yield, scanning electron microscopy, particle size, and in vitro release. Among ten formulations FS5 solvent evaporation and F1 Ionic gelation were selected as ideal formulation. The drug and physical mixture were characterized by FTIR and the results indicates that there was no interaction between the drug and polymer. The short-term stability studies on the optimized formulations indicate that there are no physical or chemical changes in the formulations during the 3-month study period time. Comparative study of two different methods shows that Solvent evaporation method is better alternative to Ionic gelation method.
