NANODENTISTRY: A NEW DISCIPLINE OF DENTISTRY

ABSTRACT
The scientific approach of altering the properties by manipulating a material in nanoscale is termed as Nanotechnology. This rising fashion in the discipline of periodontics, dentistry has made approaches much less invasive via means of methods of nanorobots, nanomaterials, nanodiagnostic aids and nanotherapeutic approaches. Nanodentistry seems to be extra promising in dentistry for protection of good oral care. Nanotechnology has revolutionized cutting-edge diagnostics.[1] The aim of this review paper is to focus on application of nanotechnology in dentistry in recent years and forecast trends in this field that may help in planning further scientific research. Nanotechnology has mounted its presence in genuinely all domains of science and technology. Its packages in healthcare extensively vary from superior diagnostics to biosensors and centered drug delivery. This is due to the fact nano materials have precise size-established homes that extensively enhance human existence and fitness when exploited. Dentistry has consequently shown visible profound developments especially in the last decade, with the involvement of such nano materials and technology. The wide variety of dental nano materials available had risen with time and a huge variety of them were researched for industrial and scientific usage. For example, antimicrobial nanoparticles are being applied in restorative composite fabric for the prevention of dental caries. Incorporating nano materials into preexisting dental materials has increased their biocompatibility. It is predicted that in the near future, nanotechnology may also permit the restore and rebuilding of dental tough tissues.[2]
