CLINICAL AND THERAPEUTIC UTILITY OF ASTA VIDHA SHASTRA KARMA AND TRIVIDH KARMA IN SHASTRA KARMA

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda the science of healthy living, has many branches that deal with different aspects of treatment; one of them is Shalya Chikitsa, which involves both surgical and non-surgical procedures. The Shalya Chikitsa discusses various surgical methods for treating various diseases, such as; pilonidal sinus, Bhagandara, Arsha, Kadara and Charmakeela, etc. Ashta Vidha Shastra Karma is one of the therapeutic approaches offered by Shalya Chikitsa. In the event of a surgical emergency, Vidha Shastra Karma offers significant advantages and resembles some contemporary surgical procedures. Sushruta Samhita is the oldest book on Shalya Tantra which elaborated various ancient practices related to the surgical interventions. Acharya Sushruta explained the concept of Trividh Karma which includes Poorva karma, Pradhan karma and Paschat karma. Present article explores clinical and therapeutic utility of Asta Vidha Shastra Karma and Trividh Karma in Shastra Karma.
