CHEMISTRY OF MELITTIN, THE MAIN PAIN-PRODUCING COMPONENT OF BEE VENOM AND ITS TREATMENT PROCEDURES. (CHEMISTRY, PAIN AND PAIN PSYCHOLOGY)

ABSTRACT

The innate and adaptive immune systems cause widespread inflammation in order to preserve homeostasis. Inflammation often promotes healing and infection recovery, but if not managed appropriately, it can result in immune system diseases. Bees employ the toxin bee venom to defend themselves against predators. Melittin, the main component of bee venom, has the ability to overreactive immune responses and cause inflammatory illnesses. Recent experimental research have demonstrated that melittin's biological properties could be used both in vitro and in vivo for medicinal purposes. Thus, the chemical studies of melittin and its action in body is very important or significant to derivatise its easy breakdown or develop a pharmaceutical solution that can be helpful in human healing when a bees or bee stung has occurred or impacted a human of any either of the gender. (Despite the tolerance to the pain).
